What IS coaching?
The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as "partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential even in the face of growing complexity"**.
As an executive coach, I work with clients to develop professional goals that enable them, as successful leaders, to lead or behave more effectively through positive behavior change that is sustained, recognized, and acknowledged by others. Coaching conversations help our clients to examine closely what actions it will take to move towards those goals and overcome barriers or hurdles that may have seemed insurmountable in the past. Coaching is all about working with someone who believes in you and encourages you, about getting valuable feedback, seeing things from new perspectives, and setting your sights on new horizons.
I primarily provide executive and leadership coaching. Most of my clients are leaders in healthcare who want to take their careers to the next level. They call me because they want to clarify their priorities, make important decisions, develop goals and action plans, and produce results that align with their vision or purpose. Often, they want to resolve patterns and situations that recur in their work as leaders.
